2007 – Postal Exhibit
(Curated by Peter B. Smith, Postal Historian and mounted by Lynne Jordan)
The histories of the post offices on Cortes were explored beginning with Mike Manson’s Cortez Post Office in the 1880s, then adding Whaletown, Manson’s Landing, Seaford, Cortes Bay, Squirrel Cove and Chamadaska (on Marina Island) – all the way through to the more recent re-opening of Squirrel Cove.
Of significance is the small Whaletown Post Office that is still using its original broken circle stamp, the oldest postal stamp in Canada still in use.
