2022 Reflecting Light: Portraying Joy

Photographs 2012 – 2022

The exhibition, opened on Sunday, April 24, 2022 with last day on Saturday, July 2, 2022.

Artist’s Statement

I’ve loved Cortes since I first visited Cold Mountain in the 1970s. It’s felt like home. The beauty here has carried me through some of the darkest times, including these past two years during the pandemic and great personal loss. I wanted to offer a reflection of this beauty and hopefully you will experience some of the joy I have while putting this exhibition together.

Thank you to the Cortes Island Museum’s exhibition committee for trusting and supporting me from start to finish. Thank you to Laura Balducci. I could not have done this without you. Thank you to those who have given me permission to show their portraits and the portraits of their loved ones, both living and dead. I would like to dedicate this exhibition to the photographer Steve Musial who lived simply and beautifully.
