Archives Project Completed!

Great News from our Archives!

Processing of our archives backlog, begun in May 2018, is now completed! The cartoon above, by Ken Slater, is just one of the treasures we came across during our project. To recap, we received a substantial grant from Library and Archives Canada through their Documentary Heritage Communities Program. This support allowed us to tackle the backlog of records in the archives that had never been fully integrated into the collection. We’re very pleased to announce that this material, previously inaccessible for the most part, has all been arranged, described and properly stored.

Are you curious about what’s in our archives? A complete list of our holdings is now online at MemoryBC, and detailed descriptions of archival documents and photographs are available at the Museum. The May Ellingsen Public Archives Room is open during Museum hours and everyone is welcome to browse the in-house searchable database or our printed Finding Aid. Archival material can be accessed with the help of a volunteer or staff member.

We would like to thank the Library and Archives Canada for their generosity, which made this project possible!
