Gordon and his family have been raising mason bees in Oyster River on Vancouver Island for over 20 years, offering rental kits to help gardeners greatly increase their crop yields. These kits are available for Cortes gardeners. Gordon has won the Best Environmental and Sustainable Business Award and is a recognized advocate for these important pollinators.
Mason bees are the solution to the problem of poor pollination affecting fruit trees and other food crops that blossom in the spring as each female visits up to 2,000 blossoms a day. Mason bees are also solitary and non-aggressive. Gordon will share his knowledge about these tiny powerhouse pollinators and how you can raise them in your own garden or orchard.
