Cortes Island Museum AGM – April 21

Cortes Island Museum & Archives Society Annual General Meeting
  • Manson’s Hall, Sunday, April 21, 2024
  • Doors open at 12:30 for new memberships and renewals
  • Meeting starts at 1 p.m.

Following the brief AGM business meeting, we invite everyone to stay for a special visual presentation by Ashe Biela and her family about their incredible journey in the South Pacific aboard their sailboat Distant Star.

Refreshments will be available. Everyone welcome!

A special resolution regarding a change to our bylaws will be proposed at the AGM. This change will permit the board of directors to appoint a Director Emeritus.

In August 2019, Luka, Ashe, Ilo, Makawi, and Khalil Biela cut ties from their beloved shores of Cortes Island to discover a dream and a world beyond it. Covering 15,000 nautical miles of ocean landscape, they sailed to the South Pacific Islands and back.  They travelled in times of COVID, through fierce lightning storms, starlit luminescent nights, remote Marquesan temples, pristine underwater reefs, and iridescent lagoons. What was meant to be a coming of age for the teenagers became one for us all.

More information and AGM documents are available now on our  AGM page.
