2007 – MEMORIAL TO DOREEN THOMPSON

Doreen was involved with the Cortes Museum from its inception and she mounted most of the exhibits from 1999 to 2006.  She grew up on Cortes and knew every square acre of the island, most of the early residents, where all the early homesteads were as well as the few mines, gravesites, homestead stories and family histories.

Photographs showed Doreen doing what she loved best – exploring Cortes by ATV or canoe.  Tragically, Doreen was killed in a car accident in Alberta in the summer of 2006.

The Cortes Museum honoured Doreen’s dedication by naming its exhibit area THE DOREEN THOMPSON EXHIBIT GALLERY.
